    Project Background

    Many startups today struggle with developing a unique prototyping framework which would save costs and time. The biggest pain point is to spend months or years on developing a product (website or web app) only to realize that users find it unusable and obsolete. So, what is the key?

     

    Google Design Sprint is a design methodology developed by GV (formerly known as Google Ventures, a venture capital investment arm of Alphabet Inc.) which helps both Google and other companies they support to ameliorate their design and prototyping processes.

    Future Leader's Challenge

    Many high school students face challenges in managing their study schedules, staying motivated, and finding resources to help them with their schoolwork.

     

    The goal of this project is to design and prototype a virtual study buddy app that can assist students in organizing their studies, providing study tips, and connecting them with peers or mentors for support.

    Skills you develop in this project:

    • Analytical & Problem Solving Skills: In product innovation design projects, you develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This involves gathering and analyzing data to understand user needs, identifying patterns and trends, and developing effective solutions. You learn to define problems accurately, generate multiple potential solutions, and evaluate the pros and cons of each option. This skillset helps you anticipate challenges and develop contingency plans, ensuring your solution is robust and viable.
    • Creative & Design Thinking Skills: These projects require robust creative and design thinking skills. You learn to approach problems from multiple angles, think outside the box, and generate innovative solutions through rapid ideation and iteration techniques and workshops. This skillset enables you to be more creative and adaptable in your problem-solving approach, refining your ideas into feasible and impactful designs.
    • Communication & Collaboration skills: Effective communication and collaboration are essential in product innovation design projects. You learn to convey your design concepts, user research findings, and prototype iterations clearly and persuasively to your team, mentors, and potential users. This involves presenting your work in a clear, concise, and visually appealing manner, using tools like journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes. You also develop teamwork skills, including active listening, conflict resolution, and project management, which are crucial for successful product development.
